Summer '17 Highlights from the CloudinIT Team
May 25, 2017
Summer is coming! Unless you’re in the Southern Hemisphere like us, in which case winter is coming...
Everyone knows the most exciting thing this summer behind the upcoming Game of Thrones season is the latest Salesforce release (right?).
The CloudinIT team have gone through the release notes and have been playing with some cool features, and they want to bring you their key highlights.
For more information about the full release, the following materials are very useful:
So, let's get into it!
General
Keyboard Shortcuts in Lightning
Ditch your mouse! Salesforce have released a number of useful keyboard shortcuts to use around Lightning.
To view the available keyboard shortcuts, press:
Windows: Ctrl + /
macOS: command + /
Preview Case Details with Case Hovers
Users can hover over cases to get a sneak peek at the details, including the description and latest update. No more opening the case record to get important information. Support agents who work with cases all day will appreciate this feature. Case hovers work automatically, so there’s nothing for you to set up.
Access Field History Related Lists in Lightning Experience
Yay! One of the core frustrations we’ve been seeing with customers using Lightning is the inability to have the Field Tracking History in your related lists. Well now it’s finally here!
Drag Files onto Files and Attachments Related Lists
Salesforce now includes support for dragging files directly from your computer into Salesforce.
Sales
Create Contacts Quicker from Account Records
When sales reps create contacts from either the Contacts or Related Contacts related list on account records, the mailing address, phone number, and fax number from the account record are auto-populated on the new contact.
Add and Edit Multiple Order Products
In Lightning Experience, reps can now add multiple products to orders and edit multiple order products at the same time.
Lightning for Gmail
For those of us on Google apps, the integration with Gmail keeps getting better and better. It’s not generally available, and other features have been released:
Relate Emails You’re Composing to Salesforce Records
Gain Speed and Consistency with Lightning Email Templates
Stay Logged In to Lightning for Gmail
Choose Which Attachments are Keepers
Keep Salesforce Events Up-to-Date
Identify Emails Related to Salesforce Records Easily
Service
Keep Everything at Hand with Lightning Console Split View
Lightning console apps allow users to work quickly by opening multiple records and related records on one screen. Now users can work even more quickly with Lightning console split view, a collapsible pane that keeps the list views you need close at hand. This feature is new in Lightning Experience.
Use an External Routing Implementation with Omni-Channel (Beta)
A cool new (beta) feature that allows you to route cases to agents based on rules set up external to Salesforce.
When external routing is enabled, use the newest version (40.0) of Salesforce standard APIs and streaming APIs to connect Salesforce with an external routing implementation in your routing configuration. Then, create queues that use either Omni-Channel routing or your external routing implementation.
Reporting
Add Dashboard Filters in Lightning Experience
Yay! Another item to the list of features to make its way into Lightning. You can now do Dashboard Filters for dashboards within Lightning Experience.
Add Combination Charts to Dashboards in Lightning Experience
Combination charts plot two or more sets of data on a single chart, making charts “multimetric.” For example, show the average probability and number of opportunities by stage.
Development
New Option for Parallel Testing on the isTest() Annotation
Use the @isTest(isParallel=true) annotation to indicate test classes that can be run in parallel and aren’t restricted by the default limits on the number of concurrent tests. This makes the execution of test classes more efficient, because more tests can be run in parallel.
Use Advanced PDF to Render Visualforce Pages as PDF Files (Pilot)
For anyone who has done PDF generation in VisualForce knows that it can be quite clunky and painful to get everything right. This new pilot feature provides broader support for modern HTML standards, such as CSS3, JavaScript, and HTML5. This change applies to both Lightning Experience and Salesforce Classic.
Pardot
Engagement Studio
Ability to Assign Prospects in Engagement Programs
New actions in the Engagement Studio action builder allows you to select Salesforce queues as an assignment action. Now you can add additional prospect assignment and escalations in Salesforce with Escalation and Workflow rules for prospects that were previously left unassigned in Pardot. This helps to smoothly pass hot leads in the Engagement journey to trigger a follow up if their call to action behaviour reaches your preset threshold.
Adjust Scoring Category Scores Based on Prospect Activity
Increase or decrease a prospect’s Scoring Category score. The new Adjust Score in Scoring Category Engagement Program action lets you adjust scores for product lines, regions, and divisions, right from your Engagement Program.
Check Scoring Category Scores in Engagement Programs
Segment and define paths based on a prospect’s score in a specific scoring category. Now you can segment prospects based on different product lines, regions, and divisions, right from your Engagement Program.
Salesforce Engage UI Enhancements
Salesforce announced an updated look and feel for Engage Campaigns and reports. Your sales reps now have more enhanced editing capability of existing approved emails, can easily swap templates, or even create new email templates with Pardot tracking enabled. Thus granting the reps more editing control, making them more productive, and eliminating them having to wait for marketing to edit and create new templates in Pardot.
You now also have the ability to select custom date ranges in Engage Reports. Reps can analyze data across the duration of the sales cycle (so they have more control in Engage reporting) and they don’t have to switch between Engage and Salesforce reports.
Engagement History Lightning Component
The Engagement History lightning component is an updated way to view Pardot and Engage prospect activities in Salesforce. If your organization is currently using Salesforce lightning, you can now add the Engagement History lightning component instead of the Pardot Activities VisualForce page.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Ben, Tiaan, Stefan, or Anu.
